CAIROBI TALKS IV
How difficult is it to be a researcher in Africa under a hegemonic Western knowledge system that is perceived as universal? On June 8 and 9, 2022 DAAD Alumni in East Africa as well as Egypt and Sudan joined in this timely and urgent debate.
Portrait of the Month: June 2022
In this Portrait of the Month, we introduce you to Deng Bulis Batalam, who fled South Sudan when war broke out in his country and had been living in Ethiopia since September 2011. Deng Bulis is now a DAAD In-Country / In-Region Scholar pursuing a Master's program in Public Health at Mount Kenya University in Thika Town, Kenya.
Study and Research in Germany
At the invitation of Mount Kenya University (MKU), the DAAD Regional Office for Africa presented "Study and Research in Germany" on May 20, 2022 and introduced the DAAD funding opportunities and scholarships on the topic "The Role of Universities, the Public and Private sectors in Peace building for Socio-economic Development".

Twenty-one new DAAD-scholarship holders from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have the chance to continue their academic careers with a full Ph.D. program or a year of study in Germany!

In the eyes of the DAAD, the end of a funding period marks the beginning of a long-standing relationship with us.
