Hello, East Africa! My name is Tobias and I am working for the DAAD in East Africa.

Here, I wear two hats: At University of Nairobi, I am a lecturer at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences where I teach courses related to German, European and international politics and history. I currently also teach Theories and Strategies of International Relations.

At the same time, I work at the DAAD Regional Office for Africa in Nairobi where I am responsible for coordinating German Studies in the region and where I work on a major transnational university project. Regarding German university curricula, I want to focus on the promotion of scientific working, professional language and digitalization.

I studied History, German Studies and International Relations and got my Ph.D. in Political Science. In my research, I focus on the use of economic statecraft in international relations and on governance issues. I am also very interested in regional integration in East Africa.

What I absolutely love here in East Africa: the stunning nature, delicious chapati for lunch, and the very cheeky monkeys in my backyard.
