The increasing number of cases of corona virus infections in Europe and the measures taken by European governments to prevent further spread of the disease have severe effects on mobility and business in the higher education landscape in Germany and Europe.

On 17 March, the German Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer announced that checks at the internal borders with Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and Denmark are reintroduced as an additional measure to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Traveling from countries other than the EU-countries to Germany will only be allowed for persons with important reasons. This is valid for the next 30 days and also applies to international students. Scholarship holders of the In-Country/In-Region-Programmes will receive further information via E-Mail.

Alumni events in East Africa will not take place as scheduled. Organisers of these events will receive information via E-Mail.

German scholarship holders that are currently in the East African region will be contacted via E-Mail.
