Leadership for Africa Scholarship Programme

We got a chance to interview successful recipients of the Leadership for Africa Scholarship Programme, one male Kenyan citizen, Peter Diang’a, now studying in Osnabrück, Germany, and two female refugees, Luwam Tesfai from Eritrea who was living in Ethiopia at the time of application and now studying in Berlin,  and Fardowsa Muhamud, from Somalia who studied in Uganda and is now pursuing her master’s in Magdeburg.

Call for Applications

Leadership for Africa Scholarship Programme

The scholarship programme “Leadership for Africa” (LfA) aims to support the academic qualification and advancement of young refugees and national scholars from selected countries to study at  higher education institutions in Germany. This year, for studies beginning in 2023/24, the selected countries are Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda

Center of African Excellence

Mining and Resource Management at CEMEREM, TTU - Kenya

In Kenya, the DAAD supports two  "Centers of African Excellence," one being the "Kenyan German Center for Mining, Environmental Engineering and Resource Management" (CEMEREM) at the Taita Taveta University. CEMEREM is a joint project of the Dresden University of Applied Sciences and the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg.

Co-operation

DAAD Nairobi and the Ministry of Education in Kenya agree on closer co-operation

At the invitation of the Kenyan Ministry of Education State Secretary (PS) Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi from the State Department for University Education and Research in the presence of the Director of University Education Darius Mogaka Ogutu and his deputy Charles Obiero, a meeting with the German Ambassador to Kenya, Ms. Annett Günther, the cultural attaché at the German Embassy in Nairobi, Ms. Ulla Koos and the director of the DAAD Regional Office in Nairobi, Ms. Beate Schindler-Kovats, took place in the Ministry on 1st March 2022.
